The Canteen is a casual New England eatery that uses high-quality ingredients to create Cape Cod favorites from scratch. Our menu and style of service is rooted in the tradition of classic seafood shacks, but influenced by modern American cuisine.

Our hot and cold lobster rolls start with whole, local lobsters shucked by hand every day. We make our french fries from scratch using potatoes from Maine. And our raw bar features local shellfish, often including oysters from Provincetown. Cape Cod beer flows alongside other New England brews, and our wine list features vintages grown here in the United States and 3,000 miles away in France.

Housed in a 200 year-old building, our communal dining room opens onto the bustle of downtown Provincetown while our backyard seating area opens out onto Cape Cod Bay.

Open seven days a week for lunch and dinner. Winter hours 11am-7pm. Lunch 11am-3pm, dinner 3-7pm. Grab-and-Go meals available all day.

Special dinners every Tuesday and Wednesday nights. Seafood specials every Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

Guests are welcome to eat in our backyard — in our heated tent or outdoors.

We also have a great selection of quality wines at great prices, too!

Shop in person at the Canteen or pre-order online for pick-up from our our online ordering system.

Over 30 years later, Chef/Owner Bob Montano remains committed to creating authentic Italian cuisine in North Truro – from scratch, of course. Montano’s is Cape Cod’s original restaurant for fresh, daily-made bronze-die pasta. All of our pasta is made fresh in the kitchen, and is featured in house favorites such as Fettucine Bolognese, Short-Rib Ragu, and Ricotta Gnocchi. In addition to the pastas, all of Chef Montano’s sauces and pizza doughs are made fresh every day.
