  Provincetown has always been a safe haven for everyone landing on our shores, dating back even before the Mayflower Pilgrims sailed into our harbor in 1620.

  Along with the emergence of artists, actors, playwrights and poets in the early 1900’s gays and lesbians found Provincetown to be a place where there was freedom to express sexual preferences and a sense of acceptance which the rest of the world had yet to learn.

  Gays, lesbians, transgendered and bisexuals have been visiting and making Provincetown home for many decades, adding to the eclectic make-up of Provincetown’s community today. GLBT visitors are a major component of Provincetown’s tourism economy and continue to make Provincetown one of top GLBT destinations in the world.
