Provincetown’s Gallery Strolls Return Friday, May 23rd

We’re excited to kick off the 2025 season of The Stroll, Provincetown’s beloved weekly art walk that brings the town’s creative spirit to life. Beginning Friday, May 23 and continuing through October 10, join us on Friday evenings as our local galleries and partner organizations along Commercial and Bradford Streets open their doors for an evening of art, conversation, and connection.

Many galleries debut new exhibitions during The Stroll, and you just might find yourself chatting with artists, curators, or fellow art lovers over refreshments. From lively gallery receptions to pop-up installations and nonprofit showcases, Friday nights continue to offer something new to discover. Explore what’s happening this week to help you plan your perfect Stroll, we hope to see you out and about this season!

Happening This Weekend

Opening May 23: Oceans Eleven, Frederick Studio Provincetown

Provincetown artist James Frederick celebrates the kick-off of the studio’s eleventh season with an exhibition of representational impressions of the sea. Ocean’s Eleven explores the many ways that the ocean provides vital visual nourishment to the human spirit.

Opening reception from 7 to 9 pm on May 23rd, the exhibit continues through June 1st.

Opening May 23: Four One Person exhibits, Berta Walker Gallery

Featuring the work of Tom Boland, Rob Dutoit, William Fitts, and Brenda Horowitz.

Opening reception from 7 to 9 pm on May 23rd, the exhibit continues through June 15th.

Opening May 23: Bañistas de Santa Fe (Swimmers of Santa Fe), Galeria Cubana

Featuring the work of Sandra Dooley.

Opening reception from 5 to 8 pm on May 23rd, the exhibit continues through June 2nd.

Opening May 23: Welcome Home, A Group Show, Four Eleven Gallery
This group show brings together all of Four Eleven Gallery’s artists and other invited Cape artists. In Welcome Home, the concept of home is much more than a shelter.

Opening reception May 23rd from 7 to 9 pm, Gallery Talk May 30th from 6 to 7 pm. Exhibit continues through June 10th.

Opening May 23: “Urban Explorations,” the photography of Max Mattei, Stewart Clifford Gallery

Opening on May 23rd, and continuing through June 25th, Urban Explorations showcases the Boston photography of Max Mattei.

An opening reception will be held on Friday, May 23rd from 6 to 8 pm.

Opening May 23: Memorial Day Exhibition, Greta Van Campen, On Center Gallery

The Gallery will host an opening reception on May 23, 6:30-9:00 with the artist in attendance.

Greta is a full-time artist from mid-coast Maine. She is known mostly for her hard-edge, geometric landscape paintings. Exhibit continues through June 18th.

May 24: Welcome Jo Hay Reception, On Center Gallery

On Center Gallery is pleased to announce our represention of Provincetown artist Jo Hay.

The Gallery will host a Welcome Reception on May 24 at 2pm with the artist in attendance, featuring new works by Jo from the RABBIT HABBIT series.

Opening May 23: Through the Lens: A Provincetown Perspective on Photography and Painting, Provincetown Arts Society

A Benefit Opening Reception! Provincetown Arts Society in association with Provincetown Art Association and Museum presents a unique mix of photography and painting, with a queer eye view of life at the tip of the Cape.

Meet the artists and enjoy cocktails, oysters and hours d’oeuvres on May 23rd from 5 to 7:30 pm. Tickets are required.

May 25Back to the Beach, a Kickoff to Summer Fundraiser, The Commons

Summer’s calling and The Commons invites you to kick off the season in style on Sunday, May 25th from 1 to 4pm. Sip, mingle, and toast–all while supporting the creatives who make the Outer Cape so special! Tickets here.
