CARE for the Cape & Islands™ (CARE) was founded in 2012 to encourage, support, and create opportunities for visitors to donate their “time, talent, and treasure” to help preserve and protect the very things they travel here to see and enjoy: exquisite natural beauty, plant and wildlife habitats, Cape & Islands culture and history. Ultimately, CARE, which stands for Creating A Responsible Environment, seeks to tap travelers’ growing interest in and support of eco-tourism and green-travel, and their philanthropic inclinations to help ensure the long-term sustainability of the Cape & Islands as a unique travel destination and national treasure. Working with travel industry businesses, CARE helps to educate the public about the region’s fragile environment, create opportunities for travelers to contribute to local efforts that assist with the long-term environmental conservation and cultural heritage preservation, deepen their connection to the destination, and enhance the visitor experience.
Information about specific projects and how to get involved may be found the CARE website and Facebook page.

For over 40 years, the Center for Coastal Studies has served as Provincetown’s hometown organization for coastal and marine environmental awareness, research, and education, yet enjoys an international reputation for its extensive research on the humpback whale that is the basis of the town’s whale watching industry, and the critically endangered North Atlantic right whale that visits our waters January-May.
The Center is a pioneer in marine animal disentanglement, regional water quality monitoring, high resolution seafloor mapping, seal and fisheries research, marine debris and marine plastics studies, and some of the earliest and ongoing studies of land-sea interaction.
The Center’s newly renovated Hiebert Marine Laboratory is open year-round and features the only large whale skeleton on Cape Cod, that of Spinnaker, a 37-foot humpback whale who died of entanglement in 2015, as well as specialty books on marine science for sale. We also offer field walks, educational programs, beautifully designed apparel at our kiosk on MacMillan Pier in season, and the popular winter lecture series at Napi’s the last Wednesday of the month, October—May.

Hand crafted wooden tables are nestled within brick walls, low ceilings and basket lighting, creating a romantic atmosphere. Donna’s extensive Italian menu, both family treasures and recipes garnered through travel and schools, draws a local clientele attracted to the appropriate prices and abundant portions. But it is her remarkably creative continental menu and her partner Kathy’s delectable desserts that keep their clients coming back. In a fashion that Donna refers to as “Mediterranean- American fusion”, she dishes out delights that change bi-monthly.

Marine Specialties has been a Provincetown landmark for over 55 years. Often known simply as “the army-navy store,” it is an eclectic trove of salvage, surplus, slight IRs, closeouts, overruns, misprints, mistakes, spare parts, odd lots, cast-offs, and new and nearly-new items. Over time it’s grown to be the kind of jumbled, inclusive, and eccentric “army-navy” store Provincetown deserves. Wheelchair accessible.

Over 30 years later, Chef/Owner Bob Montano remains committed to creating authentic Italian cuisine in North Truro – from scratch, of course. Montano’s is Cape Cod’s original restaurant for fresh, daily-made bronze-die pasta. All of our pasta is made fresh in the kitchen, and is featured in house favorites such as Fettucine Bolognese, Short-Rib Ragu, and Ricotta Gnocchi. In addition to the pastas, all of Chef Montano’s sauces and pizza doughs are made fresh every day.
Montano’s is more than just traditional Italian fare – our steaks are dry-aged prime, our seafood is locally caught, and our desserts made in the kitchen. We are located just a few minutes away from Provincetown’s Commercial Street and open our doors at 4:30 every night. Buon Appetito!

The Canteen is a casual New England eatery that uses high-quality ingredients to create Cape Cod favorites from scratch. Our menu and style of service is rooted in the tradition of classic seafood shacks, but influenced by modern American cuisine.
Our hot and cold lobster rolls start with whole, local lobsters shucked by hand every day. We make our french fries from scratch using potatoes from Maine. And our raw bar features local shellfish, often including oysters from Provincetown. Cape Cod beer flows alongside other New England brews, and our wine list features vintages grown here in the United States and 3,000 miles away in France.
Housed in a 200 year-old building, our communal dining room opens onto the bustle of downtown Provincetown while our backyard seating area opens out onto Cape Cod Bay.

In 1976 a small band of radio visionaries was inspired to create a community radio station in Provincetown. It took several years for them to realize their dream, but finally WOMR, Outermost Community Radio, went on the air in 1982.
WOMR broadcasts at 92.1 FM from Provincetown, and since 2010, at 91.3 FM (WFMR) from Orleans.
Over 100 volunteers contribute their time and talents to create WOMR’s diverse and special programming. A non-profit organization, WOMR is not affiliated with any educational institution, and derives it’s financial support from listeners, businesses and grant making organizations.

Provincetown’s best breakfast now offers an authentic taqueria menu featuring tacos, cocktails and refrescos. At Yolqueria, starting your day off right is what we’re all about. Hearty portions, premium cocktails and a perfect cup of coffee – that’s the stuff that makes us tick. After you’ve woken up with us, swing back by and fight off those evening cravings with a few bites from our menu of authentic tacos and refrescos. We’re not talking about some puny little breakfast sandwich. We’re talking about one of those “get the day started right” kind of meals. You know the ones that you order with eyes bigger than your stomach? That’s so good you can’t help but scrape the plate clean? The ones that come with a damn good cocktail and a rich, velvety coffee? Yolqueria has all of that, with a breezy patio and a bonus ocean view.
