Expedition Whydah Pirate Museum, located on historic MacMillan Wharf, displays artifact and treasure recovered from the only authenticated pirate ship which wrecked off Wellfleet in 1717. The Whydah Galley, captained by Sam Bellamy, was discovered by internationally-known underwater explorer Barry Clifford and his dive team over thirty years ago – you may have seen its store with sweatshirts “T’s” and other authentic pirate-themed gear, books, gifts and games, portrayed on National Geographic. Docked next to the museum is the RV Vast Explorer, the expedition’s research vessel which brings in weaponry, canons, gold dust and coins every summer. Museum and store hours: daily 10am-5pm. Group rates for 10 or more. Grab-and-go-style café open daily at 8:30am. Baked goods, coffee, fresh salads, sandwiches, ice cream.

The museum is located right next to the Highland Light. The building was once a summer resort hotel which was built in 1907. We have exhibits that highlight Truro and the Lower Cape’s history including Shipwrecks and Native Americans. We offer many free events throughout the summer which includes our Wednesday evening talks and concerts. Open June to September, Monday to Saturday: 10am to 4:30pm. The Ginny G is a very comfortable with a heated cabin and full size head (bathroom) and full galley with wash up sink. You are welcome to bring your Captain approved pet with you. You need only bring whatever you want to eat or drink. Don’t forget the sunscreen, sunglasses, camera. Be sure to dress accordingly with extra clothing for the weather when on a boat. Ask about our Combo fishing and whale watching trips and Lobster trips by request. For fishing trips we supply all of the finest gear for your fishing needs. You will need a cooler to put the fish in after we fillet and bag the fish for you. Our catch rate is very high! If the fish are there and biting … we will get them! Private Whale Watching: If you do not want to fight the crowds on the bigger boats we offer private whale watching trips. The whales are usually in the Provincetown area from early spring to October. You may see humpback, finback, minke, right whales and pilot whales. Be sure to see these wonderful creatures.

Sailing program for children ages 8 – 14. We provide low-cost, affordable instruction in sailing and sailboat racing in a fun and safe environment to children in Provincetown and Truro.

The West End Racing Children’s Community Sailing (WERCCS) non-profit organization offers children’s sailing program for ages 8-14 providing lessons and equipment for a seasonal registration fee of $100.

The program is open to both residents and visitors from Provincetown and Truro. There will be a program instructor and assistant instructors on duty at all times. Regular hours are 9-noon and 1-4 pm weekdays in July and August varying with the weather and tides.

Children must be able to swim unassisted for a distance of 100 feet. Parents/guardians must register children in person at the WERCCS.

Cape Cod Light

In Truro, Massachusetts, on a bluff overlooking the Atlantic Ocean, Highland Light was the first lighthouse on Cape Cod. Erected in 1797, Highland Light, also known as Cape Cod Light, has warned seafarers for over 200 years of the treacherous coastline along outer Cape Cod. Highland Light offers tours of the Lighthouse tower, exhibits and Keeper’s Shop. The Keeper’s shop carries a selection of gifts, postcards, books and apparel so you can remember your visit to Cape Cod’s first Lighthouse. TOWER CLIMBS: Please note: There is a 48” height restriction to climb the tower. The Lighthouse and Keeper’s Shop are open from Mid-April until the end of October. The Pilgrim Monument commemorates the first landing of the Mayflower Pilgrims in 1620 in Provincetown Harbor where they wrote and signed the Mayflower Compact, the first written declaration of a democratic commonwealth.

At 252-feet, 7.5 inches tall and 353 feet above sea level, it is the tallest all-granite structure in the U.S. and includes 60 ramps and 116 steps.

The Monument is designed to resemble Torre Del Mangia, a 14th century tower in Siena, Italy, and is of the Italian Renaissance order of architecture.

The Museum collects, preserves, interprets, researches, exhibits, and publishes archival historical materials and exhibit materials depicting important events of Provincetown history.

Two houses, Keeper’s house and Whistle house, located within the Cape Cod National Seashore. The Race Point properties are maintained by the Cape Cod Chapter of the American Lighthouse Foundation. The Cape Cod Chapter of the American Lighthouse Foundation is a non-profit organization made up of volunteer members whose mission is the restoration and preservation of Race Point Lighthouse, the Keeper’s House, the Whistle House, the Oil House, and Wood End and Long Point Lighthouses.

2019 Tours Schedule
You can get to the lighthouse by walking or your own four-wheel drive vehicle with the proper permit; we do not provide public transportation for the tower tours. Please note: The touring season will be suspended if any of the various federally-protected shore birds have nested and block access to the lighthouse. Once the chicks fledge, tours will resume.
